What you'll build

Our goal is to provide Knowledge Graphs (KG) as key differentiators to address LLM challenges like hallucination and compliance and to deliver distinctive generative AI solutions to our customers.

As a Data Engineer Working Student (f/m/d), you will contribute to data engineering activities for the Business Knowledge Graphs team at SAP.

• Build ETL pipeline scripts that ingest data, metadata, and other development artifacts into our Knowledge Graph using various APIs: SQL, REST, OData, web scraping
• Create and maintain explicit data models and transformation logic for highly heterogeneous data: JSON, YAML, XML, OData EDMX, OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, CDS, CSN, ORD, BPMN
• Perform data analysis and write automated tests to ensure data quality and ETL operations continuity
• Maintain, extend and operate supplementary cloud applications, e.g. a reverse proxy or simple REST API wrappers

What you bring

• Enrolled student (f/m/d) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Mathematics, or other relevant disciplines at a higher education institution in Germany
• Above-average academic performance is expected. Most recent degree transcript with ratings must be uploaded to the application
• Proficiency in Python - algorithms and data structures, OOP, generators and I/O, logging/debugging, basic test automation skills
• Hands-on experience consuming at least one of the following interfaces or languages: REST, OData, SQL or web scraping/HTML parsing
• Basic development or operations experience on any of the cloud providers: SAP Business Technology Platform, AWS, GCP, Azure
• Hands-on experience with any major ETL framework like Databricks, Metaflow or Airflow is a plus
• Familiarity with data analysis (pandas, Jupyter Notebooks, Great Expectations), data modelling frameworks or languages (Pydantic, JSONSchema, XMLSchema) is an advantage
• Experience with Knowledge Graphs and Semantic Technologies (JSON-LD, RDF, SPARQL, SHACL) is a plus
• Curiosity and interest to explore and adopt new technologies and frameworks mentioned above
• Working from the office in Walldorf or Berlin at least weekly is mandatory
