2023 Graduate Internship Programme (Business Process Analysis applied to HRIS, HR Information Systems)

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is looking for recent graduates to join the 2023 cohort of Graduate Interns. This is an 11-month internship that will allow you to use the knowledge you gained during your studies in a professional environment. By joining the graduate internship programme in Human Resources, you will:


• work on a complex business-driven project and challenges designed to stretch your capabilities in collecting, structuring, analysing, and reporting on business practices, and data. This will include the assessment of the related impact of change on people, processes and technology. The aim is to define the business requirements and the enabling technology of the enhanced future state.

Purpose of the Internship Programme:

Continuous learning and development is key in our ever-changing world, and we need to adapt our HR and development journey accordingly.

Our graduate internship program focusses on experiences, connections and opportunities combined with the mentorship and support from senior leaders and professionals across the bank. Based in the heart of Europe, our graduate programme offers practical project experience for up to 11 months.

Principal accountabilities:

You will be assigned to the following special project in our Human Resources Unit:

The HR IT On-premise system will transfer to a Cloud-based solution and you will be involved in the requirements gathering, process definition, preparation activities and start of implementation. You will also be required to map specific business processes and the related

change impact with a focus on HR systems usage for activities including but not limited to; compensation & benefits, payroll, recruitment, learning and development, analytics, and HR operational activities. This role will play a crucial part in steering the simplification of the current complex environment with multiple disparate systems into a single instance. The analysis will include the functional & technical requirements such as data architecture; data migration and integrations to internal and external related systems.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:


• Bachelor’s or master’s degree completed in 2022 or 2023
• Interest in working with business and information technology (IT) departments to identify

areas that need improving and design solutions to potential problems using modern IT delivery models, business process analysis and cloud-based systems.


• Knowledge of data process modelling, business process design, and business operating procedures


• Understanding of business process analysis. Particularly the ability to analyse and document the business requirements


• Experience working as part of highly collaborative project teams.
• Ability to analyse end-to-end business requirements determining the right questions to

ask and providing the right visualization to emphasize previously unidentified interconnections.


• A genuine interest in the areas of Business, Operations, Human resources management and Information technology


• Cultural awareness.
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Flexibility

What we offer:

The contract is for up to 11 months (non-renewable). We offer a competitive salary net of Swiss income tax, health insurance, support with relocation and return travel, as well as accommodation in Basel.
