The Institute of Insurance Economics at the University of St. Gallen seeks to hire a Research Associate (PhD Position). This position should be of particular interest to candidates interested in pursuing an academic-oriented PhD at the Chair for Risk Management and Insurance (see for details). The researcher will benefit from hands-on experience with research methods and opportunities to work closely with national and international corporate partners and potential references at the world's leading academic institutions.

Your profile

Candidates for this position are expected to enroll in the PhD program in Finance at the University of St. Gallen, with the doctoral supervisor being Hato Schmeiser. The candidate should fulfill the following qualifications:

  • Outstanding Master's degree in business/management or a related field from a leading university or business school
  • Strong interest in risk management and insurance
  • Demonstrated suitability to work on analytical problems
  • Previous research experience in an insurance-related environment is a definite plus
  • First practical experience in a profession closely related to risk and insurance management
